HISTORY

In Torekov, the sea is a constant presence. When the local harbor office was due for a renovation, we were given the opportunity to create lighting that matched the new environment — a space that sits somewhere between an office and a museum, where history and the present meet.

Together, the idea emerged to let Swedish lighthouses illuminate the room. The first was Pater Noster — one of our most iconic and distinctive lighthouses, shaped by its era, its function, and the rugged coastal landscape.

Using modern 3D technology, we took on the challenge of interpreting the lighthouse as a lamp. The result was a unique, locally produced piece made from bio-based PLA, capturing the characteristic steel structure and its architectural expression — a piece of cultural heritage in a new light.

Today, Pater Noster stands proudly in the Torekov harbor office. And more Swedish lighthouses are on the way — bringing the light from our coastlines into homes, workplaces, and public spaces.

Nils Gustaf von Heidenstam

Gustaf von Heidenstam was the engineer who laid the foundation for Pater Noster’s astounding silhouette. With an innovative iron construction, he created a lighthouse capable of withstanding Bohuslän’s harsh winds and serving as a reliable landmark in darkness and fog.

When we interpret Pater Noster in the form of a lamp, we do so with the same sense of function and expression that defined Heidenstam’s work. A distillation of the coast’s architecture — and a small piece of maritime history to let shine in your home.

The Pater Noster Lighthouse is a classic “Heidenstam Lighthouse” – an open iron tower constructed from standardized modules and truss parts, designed by Nils Gustaf von Heidenstam.
